The increase worries Steve Gunn, a member of the board of directors of the Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah.Aww, don't worry, Steve. Here. This ought to make you feel better.
"People who carry guns or who even own guns should understand that a gun is far more likely to be misused than be for the protection of the individual," Gunn said in an interview. "People ought not to be buying or carrying guns." [More]
Assuming it doesn't pop out.

That old joke never gets old! And fire extinguishers are more likely to START fires, too!
Yes, Mr. Gunn's contention has been debunked. That said, I just look to Dad and Grandpa as examples of whether or not carrying is a good idea. Dad was California Highway Patrol for over 30 years and carried both on and off duty. Grandpa would carry on horseback and probably other places, but I was younger then and didn't notice. We had guns in our house since before I was born. Nobody was ever hurt due to proper handling and following rules.
I now have my own firearms and you'd better believe that there's at least one loaded in the house at all times.
