Number One Salesman

Since November 4, one of the interesting trends we've seen is a sharp increase in the purchase of firearms. People who would have probably NEVER have considered owning firearms before the election are now full-fledged gun-owners.Beginning immediately after the election, gun shops across the country noted increases in sales by 42% over the previous November. December numbers increased further after the announcement of Eric Holder as nominee for Attorney General.

Now, again, in January, we are seeing a further increase in sales of firearms. [More]
The writer of this piece is new to guns, but as you can see, open-minded.

Here's a great chance to encourage that and approach his "outside the choir" readers. Here's a chance to be ambassadors, so that a whole new set of minds might want to learn more...

Here's a chance to be Number One Salesmen and Saleswomen.

I talked one of my co-workers into buying a gun recently. He is someone who probably never would have purchased one. He tends to lean heavily towards the left on ALL things but now has a vested interest in the preservation of the 2nd Amendment. I am even purchasing him a gift membership in GOA to help get him further involved.

Here in Western Connecticut, it's even more interesting than this. We already experienced a spike in sales in the wake of the Cheshire arson-murder. Now my local gun shops are telling me that they are experiencing a demand for pistol permit training classes that outstrip the former; as many classes as are offered are filled to capacity.

It's not just guns, it's also accessories, reloading equipment and reloading supplies. The latter is important here, because 30 to 50 percent spikes in ammo and component costs didn't motive the public this much. (Though I was motivated because I watched metals prices, and made my investment when the jump was only 15 percent. :-)

Is this a good thing? Probably not. You must be registered--oops, I mean, you need to surrender your rights in exchange for a plastic card--no, wait.... you need a pistol permit to own a handgun, and all your handgun purchases are tracked. You're one tiny process "crime" away from having your permit (and your inalienable right) revoked without a trial by jury, and the transfer logs mean the seizure warrant practically writes itself.

Thanks for joining in on the fun, folks!
