Kentucky Derby Stumbling Out of the Starting Gate

So, by decree of the Metro council, they have announced that they have suspended your rights for an area extending 15 blocks east-to-west, and 3 blocks north-to-south!

In blatant violation of the laws and constitution of Kentucky, the Louisville Metro county government has revoked the right to self-defense - and will be searching you at random to enforce their decree! [More]
The Pulse of KC3 recommends that gun owners fight this, up to and including telling the Kentucky Derby Festival "that you won't be spending your money at the Derby or any related events as long as this policy is in place."

And they're off...

Does this mean that all those celebrities and dignitaries that I see attending the race will also have unarmed security as well? Or is this one of those "Only ones" event?

Ok, they just broke the law. Where is the State's Attorney with charges?

This is now a criminal matter and the Louisville/Metro Council should be charged. If the Kentuckians in this article are serious, they need to be demanding an answer from the governor as to where the Attorney General is and why hasn't he moved against these criminals.

Go ahead Straightarrow, demand. But as my sainted grandmother was so fond of pointing out, you can "demand" in one hand and s**t in the other and and see which one gets full first.

Demanding that the governor order the AG to do something won't get very far. The AG is elected and doesn't report to the governor. The AG did just announce he was running for the Democratic nomination for US Senate, so he won't go against the big wheels in Louisville.

Well, for all you cynics and surrender monkeys and quitters, some news to surprise you - the Derby Festival people caved in! They took the 'no firearms' posting off their web site and the Louisville Metro police announced that concealed carry by permit holders would be permitted in all the areas except the beer tents, exactly as allowed by the statutes.
KC3 knocked this one out of the park, and a lot of it was the pressure brought on them by people responding to our blog and all the others who pitched in to spread the word. Thanks for the support!
