What's in Your Cranium?

Distinctive brain patterns could become the latest subject of biometric scanning after EU researchers successfully tested technology to verify identities for security checks. [More]
And coming soon: Wave scans that tell us if you're thinking "properly". That way, we can find out if you're one of those "rightwing extremists" we need to put on our "no buy" list.

Or, as the Keepers of Talos IV warned:
Wrong thinking is punishable. Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded. You will find it...an effective combination

Oh, well.

This won't be avoided just by refusing to travel. When it's cheap enough, it'll be a condition of attending college, getting a job, possibly getting a driver's license. If you're prone to road rage -- or you have a problem with following orders... I mean directions -- the government needs to know, huh?

People with epilepsy and other neurological problems are being treated with a chip implanted in the brain, which regulates the cascade of neuron electrical discharges across the brain and prevents or minimizes seizures. Still experimental, but apparently very promising.
Consciousness is electrochemical in nature. So is emotion.

Does YOUR city have a lucrative biomedical research complex?
