Prescience

"Gentleman, your world is going to change. I know most of you hunt. I doubt there is anyone here that doesn’t own a firearm. The day is coming when the Federal government is going to try and disarm you. I won’t see it, but you will. Mark my words and be on your guard, the Second Amendment is the only thing standing between you and the suffering you can’t comprehend. Class is dismissed." [More]
Tim Case looks at the past and then looks at the present.

Incidentally, if you missed them, I addressed the three current examples he cites here, here and here.

I check LRC every morning and that was a very worthwhile read. And the quote at the end should be all the debate-stopping riposte one should ever need with the likes of Sara "You wanna piece of me?" Robinson.

Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th Circuit Court in 2003 wrote in part:

"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed – where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."

And, that's fine as far as that goes, except once doomsday arrives, not only will the 2nd Amendment already be down the tubes but so will the entire Constitution. As to which one goes first???

Our fundamental rights all hinge upon the survival of the 2nd Amendment. Once it's gone the rest, along with the entire Constitution, will follow.

Of course any use of the right to keep and bear arms as "?Protected?" by the 2nd Amendment to protect the rest of our rights will be determined by the powers that be to be terrorism and treason against the state, the 2nd Amendment notwithstanding.

Read the writings of President Jefferson Davis and General Robert E. Lee if you don't agree. I'm beginning to realize that no part of the Constitution protects our rights as long as we allow government to be free to disregard the Constitution. And, until We The People decide to clean house and fire the hired hands who day to day totally disregard the Constitution and their oaths to protect and defend things will only get worse.

The only means to protect one's self from a rabid out-of-control Pit Bull is to either chain it up with heavy chains until it dies on its own or, shoot it and put it out of its and your misery.
