A happier note: Beltway "Sniper" John Allen Muhammad will be executed tonight by injection. The governor of Virginia has refused to grant him a reprieve.

12 victims, a reign of terror, an AR-15 semi-auto used for one shot on each victim. Semi-autos are still legal here in Virginia and will stay that way.
What difference does it make what weapon was used? Had Muhammad and partner Malvo simply run over their victims with their sedan, they'd be just as dead.

I knew a 55-year-old reported and columnist, a journailst for over 35 years, who did not know the difference between semi- and full-auto. His beat for a couple of decades was city police and crime.
The fix is in.

The use of the FN Five-seveN may have actually saved lives. The small 40 gr. bullet leaves a small wound channel and would normally pass thru a body with little damage unless it hits a major vital organ.
A 45 ACP on the other hand probably would have increased the fatality level due to the massive tissue damage caused by this old fashioned type round.
We all know the media confuses the launcher with the projectile and tends to label the launcher with all the negatives. Armor piercing ammo ( had he been able to get it) probably would have reduced the death toll even more. Food for thought
