Oh, but those feds provide such a wonderful service that you and me should be grateful and be willing to give these public servants even more.

We're all piss-boys to da King.
I vacillate between laughing hysterically and suffering towering rage every time I hear and elected official justify his latest raid on the treasury with the words, "Do you know how much we could make in the private sector?"
I have only had one chance to answer one such drone to his face, my reply? "Yes, I do. Whatever the limit is for unemployment compensation in your state, because if you did your job in the private sector the same way you do here, you would damn sure be unemployed."
He got angry but he didn't argue the point. At least I think he was angry, unless purple is the normal color of his face.
I'll admit that I've had some pretty dismal views of how the private sector operates over the years - but still - how much of this 'service' would stand in that same private sector?
SERIOUSLY.
Perhaps this speaks more to my past choices in recreation, but I often find myself imagining these same public servants going into some of the 'working man' establishments that I've had opportunity to visit. This grandiosity and arrogance would not stand so well without the lights, cameras, and retinue.
They cannot abide the press of the masses - and there's a tale in there somewhere.
