Well, That Will Certainly Stimulate the Ol' Economy

As a result of the largest environmental bankruptcy in U.S. history, EPA, along with other federal and state agencies pursued and received $1.79 billion to fund environmental cleanup and restoration under a bankruptcy reorganization of American Smelting and Refining Company LLC (ASARCO), the Justice Department, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior and Department of Agriculture announced today. [More]
Because there obviously is no better way to handle these matters, and after all, two main purposes behind our government are "to establish Justice" and "secure the Blessings of Liberty."

And what better way for EPA to secure that than by issuing Glocks to their field staff?

It's nice to know they're so dedicated they're willing to secure those Blessings for us after-hours, which is the reason I assume the procurement specifies "Tijico night sights."

Good grief.

Hey--here's an idea: Didn't Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly block the guns in national parks bill because no environmental impact study had been performed?

Let's see if this gets any kind of answer:

Here we go:

I mean, who knows what environmental horrors will ensue should we allow some snail darter refuge to accumulate over 40 parts per billion of "Tijico"...?

What really bothers me is the fact they are not an enforcement arm. The only power they have is to fine and bring notice to go to court. That was what I was taught in political science a mere three years ago in one Dr. Taylor's classes, and then later on Dr. Atty. Young in Constitutional Law.

I would respectfully submit, Wyn, that all government is enforcement.

It is certainly telling that Master is starting to arm its book-keepers as well as its "more official" ninja, but not surprising. With lucrative enforcement opportunities starting to pop up like popcorn hitting that critical temperature, hell, there's just a lot more of us that they'll need to be pointin' the guns at.

I do love the, um, "Tijico" irony. The EPA not only giving evil plastic guns to its field staff for traipsing about in the same places it seeks to disarm the peasantry, but plastic guns with radioactive gas embedded in the sights.

Bet your ass I'm gonna use that one!

I hate to say it but you made a typo in your email to them: "I also not that..."

You do know when weaving a carpet masterpiece, the Persians would always intentionally put in a flaw, since only Allah can create perfection, and for man to attempt it is blasphemous?

You knew that, right?

And more importantly, do you buy it?

I think the absurdity is going to reach critical mass very soon.
People seem to be more dedicated to saving the rain forest and the polar bear than preserving what's left of their liberty. They can name Tiger Woods' mistresses but not the articles of the Bill of Rights. The media make one cool, the other ... somehow suspect.
Glenn Beck reports that Washington D.C. will prohibit large gatherings on the federal mall after 2011. Since the media only seem able to see those of the socialist/communist variety anyway...
There goes the soapbox. The right to peaceably assemble.
Orwell was an optimist.
