Yes, I know you don't automatically start clubbing people who argue with you, but that's different, and no, it would NOT have been the same if he'd been the one administering the beat-down.

20 odd years ago in my misspent youth, I received training with the baton and was state certified. One thing the two old FWS officers who conducted the training pounded into our head was that you never hit someone in the face, head, spine, kidneys, joints or even the ass (the spinal cord ends there). Those were all blows that could either kill or leave life long damage. Basically, our targets were to be the long bones of the arms and legs. Looks like training has become a bit more aggressive since then.
