It's bad enough enough to consider that cops themselves get "professional courtesy," but the purpose of these cards is to allow the FAMILY and FRIENDS of cops to be above the law. Like the Mafia. Who was it who said that governments are nothing but gangs with flags?

This is a gag, a satire of the "professional courtesy" that lets LEOs avoid the same penalties they would impose on non-LEOs for breaking the same laws, right?
I mean... a card with the US flag overlaid with cuffs (yeah, that symbolizes freedom), the "cop" on your main page with his name tag blacked out (all the better to hinder citizen complaints, right?).
Tell me this is satire.

Turns out it is for real. I got a response from them. Note that he's offering me free cards (and I'm not even a current peace officer).
We've all seen the auto stickers that merely identify members of the brothers in blue without making any actual immunity claims (wink, wink, nudge). This guy is advertising outright that his product is intended to assist people in breaking the law. Isn't that a criminal conspiracy?

I have been on the job for 15 years. I spent 3 years up north where "Professional Courtesy" is customary. Since being a LEO down in Florida, it varies from County to County, State to State.
Since the start up of LEO ProCards, I have never received a comment like yours and if anything, have only received positive feedback. Yes, this is a business like anyone else trying to make a buck. I would rather provide my family members with a card like this versus putting a PBA or FOP license plate decal on my car or a sticker that screams "COP" so every "PERP" knows there might be a LEO or family member in the vehicle. I get alerts everyday of LEO's getting shot or killed being these animals have no respect for LEO's anymore!!!

My reply to you is the officer should use his/her discretion when dealing with someone who displays this card for MINOR TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS. There are plenty of fish in the sea to write a ticket to... Do you really need to write a ticket to a spouse, mother, father or immediate family member? You mentioned, "Breaking the Law"...Yes, if this person is Breaking the Law, the card should not apply. But for traffic offenses, let's extend courtesy and show camaraderie to one another!!!
As far as the "cop" on the main page of my website, this is a generic image purchased from I-Stock Photo. His name was blocked out when we purchased this image.

Are they out of their effing minds? "Professional Courtesy" cards... the law is the law, even if I think the particular law is BS, I'll still get a ticket and take it to court to argue my case. Screw your "professional courtesy". As an EMT, if I ever find one of these cards, the person holding it will get... well, hell, I'd like to say they'd get worse treatment than everyone else but that's a lie, I treat all patients the same, even if they disgust me.

The "law is the law"? Not to Gellin. Read his reply. He says traffic laws aren't laws. (I wonder how the next cop that pulls me over will respond to my defense that, "You can't ticket me; Gellin says says traffic laws aren't real."

Let's see how this goes. I just sent this email to Brian (and several newspapers, FL legislators and FL Police Chiefs in his general vicinity (as near as I can tell):
I have recently been informed of your site and your product. I made a comment at the blog that pointed me to you with the following line, "The law is the law, even if I think the particular law is BS, I'll still get a ticket and take it to court to argue my case."
I have been informed that a former leo wrote to you to see if you were a satire site and your response pisses me off. Are you out of your effing mind? The law IS the law. Traffic laws are still traffic laws. So, you are encouraging people to break the law, which is a crime in and of itself (what is the definition of a criminal conspiracy?)

As an active officer, how many laws have you broken? I would venture to guess that it's more than just letting violators go with a handshake and a smile.

Let's see how this goes: I contacted the Florida and Hew Hampshire Attorney General offices, and suggested that -- whether or not selling a product with the stated intent of evading the law is legal -- they should warn their states' police officers that LEO Pro Cards is knowingly offering these cards to non-police and that officers should exercise extreme caution if presented with one rather than an official ID, as some it might be a "perp" with evil intent trying to get the officer to drop his guard.
Someone should order Massad Ayoob some of these cards for when he gets stopped/no knock searched while carrying his gun on him at home.
Or as he might say:
Sigh, you guys aren't seeing the other side of the story. You need to see the other camera angle. Ignore the media and the 100 or more NYPD protesting "professional courtesy" arrests. Thats a media snow job. Maybe all you haters have parole officers... I wonder.
Wow, didn't expect it, but I got a reply from an Internal Affairs Captain at the West Palm Beach Department. They stated that they have conducted an investigation previously (about officer Gellin's involvement with leoprocards.com) and issued punishment, but they would like to speak to me regarding my email/comments. I gave the Captain my number, they can call me. I'm not afraid to talk to them. Aside from the fact that we are separated by about 1,250 miles, I ain't afraid o' no badge (sorry, for some reason the Ghostbusters theme popped into my head as I was typing).
I doubt anything will come of it, but I'll post it after I talk the the Captain.
Mark, you can tell them that I would be happy to provide them with Gellin's email (complete with headers so they can verify authenticity) to me.
