On the Bright Side...



...it looks like "universal background checks" and "red flag laws" are on the back burner.

So is he going to realize, at a time he needs all the support he can get, rueing lack of movement on "gun safety" legislation to distract from this is hardly going to fire up the ol' core constituency?

Yes, I was thinking that too.

Perhaps - I hope - he realizes now that anything 'bipartisan' is fatal.

More importantly, I hope his 'advisers' understand that as well.

From "their" perspective, and ours, there's the classic "good news - bad news" conundrum at work here. On the one hand, if they mess with Trump's head enough, he can't do the stuff they don't want him to do: build the border wall, sort out the Executive branch, etc. On the other hand, he can't very well do the stuff they want him to do either: red flag laws, universal background checks, etc.
