Once a dog turns on humans, you have to get rid of it.

It doesn't matter if a Democrat wins his seat next time, because the greater danger is having the Republicans know they can pull this crap and get away with it -- supporting them in spite of betrayals only encourages more, and gives them no incentive to toe the line, out of self-preservation if not out of principle. If they don't want a Democrat to win, it's up to them to field a candidate worth supporting.

If I were a Florida gun owner, the only way I'd let this guy save himself is if he immediately apologized for the hold-up and assumed the role of vocal champion. That goes for Gardiner, too.

As long as gun owners continue rewarding "Republicans" like de la Portilla, the party will have no incentive to offer someone who actually merits support.

Better to give the seat to a damn Dem for a cycle.  And yeah, the guy has a lock on the Cuban vote, but if gun voters everywhere had been doing that all along instead of confirming impotence with the "lesser of two evils" excuse, the party would make 2A fidelity a requirement.
