License to Shill

Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.

The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.

But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

Join the club. Sean Connery was a spokesman for UK disarmament, and Pierce Brosnan is a big UN supporter. And this article reveals Roger Moore also shared those sentiments. But at least these guys waited until they were rich and famous before they started alienating their audience.

Way to go, Craig--you've single-handedly guaranteed a "Boycott Bond" movement while the movie is still in pre-production. Yeah, I'll bet the money men behind this production will be shaken, not stirred, when they realize they entrusted their investment to such a moron.

Hey guys--it's not too late to replace him...

It appears that "Bond. James Bond." has found a new enemy to engage: America!

But since he's going to use a gun in the movie I'd say that he doesn't really have any strength in his convictions. I think there's a name for that.....

oh yea... hypocrite

Precisely- he doesn't like guns but he doesn't mind them enough not to take the part- just like most of Hollywood's hoplophobes.

Didn't he use a gun in Layer Cake? How about Tomb Raider or Road to Perdition or the upcoming Munich?

If he hates guns that much he should either not do movies where he's using them or shut up about it.

BTW, I heard that the Charlie's Angels movies are gun free (the Angels anyway) because Drew Barrymore is anti-gun and she refused to use one.

Yes, jay.mac--Drew Barrymore is indeed anti-gun. If you follow the link I included in this post you'll find one of my G&A articles discussing Hollywood hypocrisy. It has a brief blurb on Barrymore:

"People just sit behind their [expletive] weapon and they can kill somebody and it's just so cowardly."
--Drew Barrymore

Petition signer Barrymore could no doubt lecture us all on courage; after all, she foreswore guns for karate in her remake of "Charlie's Angels." And she looked way cool, almost like she would know what to do in a real mortal combat situation.

It's ok to kill as long as you don't use a gun, right?

How come these people don't see that if there were no guns that brute force would rule. Guns are the great equalizer.
