Stand Your Ground

There’s no way such paranoia can be dealt with. The best response when confronted with such pathology is avoidance. But when neurotic distrust is codified into disarmament laws, we aren’t given that option. We aren’t allowed to just back away.
"Stand Your Ground" is my Rights Watch column for the February issue of GUNS Magazine.

Excellent Column as usual. I like your use of the term "progressive" in this context. Kind of turns the tables on the gun grabbers doesn't it?

From the very first time I heard this song I've felt that it should become the gunrights anthem:

TRAPT
"Stand Up"

Why don't you let me be
Leave me alone
You start a fire inside that I could never control
You wanna see a reaction

Come on and cut me down
You've gone as far as I'll go
Now you're crossing the line
And I am letting you know
Well here's your reaction

Stand up
I have had enough
Walk away before I finish what you started
Face to face I will put you in your place
End this game before I finish what you started
Face to face everything will change

You planted the seed
How my anger has grown
Got a feeling inside that I can't seem to control
You wanna see a reaction

Come on and cut me down
You've gone as far as I'll go
Now you're crossing the line and I am letting you know
Well here's your reaction

Stand up
I have had enough
Walk away before I finish what you started
Face to face I will put you in your place
End this game before I finish what you started
Face to face everything will change

Insult
After insult [9x]

Stand up
I have had enough
Walk away before I finish what you started
Face to face I will put you in your place
End this game before I finish what you started
Face to face everything will change

Walk away
Everthing will change
End this game
You wanna see a reaction
You wanna see a reaction
Stand up

Found the music video here. You're right--pretty powerful, full of "back off NOW" anger...

Good article, David! It started a train of thought in me. Have we, as Gun Rights defenders, not been doing to much of just that - defending? Do not many of us rise up, repeatedly, to repel attack on our Right?

Our attackers, use cold hard tactics in their repeated attempts. And we, dutifully rise up each time and REPEL them.

We KNOW their game plan and tactics. They GAVE them to us years ago;

"We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal." - Pete Shields, June 26, 1976

The point I'm attempting to make is, perhaps DEFENSE is not the proper tool to utilize in this war. Perhaps it is time for a good strong offense. It will take a lot of thought and planning. As well as cohesiveness. If THEY can do it, don't all you think that we can do it, even better?

Just something offered up for consideration.
