BREAKING NEWS: ANGEL OUT

I just got off the phone with Angel Shamaya.

He's out.

He's charged with 4 counts misdemeanor possession of unregistered firearms and 1 frivolous, unwarranted, vindictive count of misdemeanor menacing.

I know we all want more, especially with the last charge, but for now, we must defer to Angel's need to protect his legal rights. I know the background of the circumstances, but my advice to Angel is to not make a public statement about that without advice of counsel. Those who know me will trust me when I say that I am convinced Angel has been made a victim here.

Excellent news, David! Will Angel be able to secure the return of his rightful property?

Thanks David. Hopefully angel will let us know if he needs courtroom attendence, though this matter could be dropped by filings if angel has good representation.

E David: Too early to tell. My understanding is that long guns and ammo were also picked up in addition to the "disputed" handguns. But we just don't know the outcome--or if the case will even be prosecuted, which would be the best outcome. I noticed on the inmate locater registry, bail was $350--thjat doesn't sound like a high prioirty prosecution to me.

David: Yes, having the matter dropped is the optimum goal. Good point--If attendance is needed, I'll put out a notice.

David, Thank you for keeping us posted on the progress of this travesty of justice.
For 5 years I have considered Angel as someone I could depend on as a friend and fellow gun rights warrior.

He will be in my prayers for a swift and just resolution to this issue.

We sent Nicki our character reference for Angel. Let me know if we can do more.

I too am happy to hear that Angel is out of custody. I would urge others out there who know Angel and of his character to write that reference letter (see keepandbeararms.com) to the judge to help him out. It'll only take a minute and could be worth plenty.

There are a lot of valid legal defenses for failure to register charges.

The courts in that Bolshivik land don't like doing the right thing for gun owner.

His legal fees will surpass the value of the guns.

Angel needs money for his lawyer much more than letters to the judge. Any letters won't be considered by the court unless he's convicted of something.

I suggest real help by making a deposit the donate box on his blog.

Dear David - Thanks for keeping us up to date on Angel's situation - he'll be in our prayers; I'll definitely write a letter to the judge for him (and sign my name to it, of course!) We miss meeting up with Angel here in Arizona; he's still one of the brightest, funniest, most insightful men we know. We really wish he hadn't moved out of Arizona, which methinks might be a much friendlier state than Michigan for us anti-victim-disarmament, Bill-of-Rights-supporting folk.
