This Day in History: June 13

On this day in 1777, a 19-year-old French aristocrat, Marie-Joseph Paul Roch Yves Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, arrives in South Carolina with the intent to serve as General George Washington’s second-in-command.

You know, these "patriots" you keep mentioning are a troubling bunch.

They have no respect for law and order. They must be brought to heel in order for the lawful government of the colonies to endure.

Agents of the government should deal with them harshly. How dare they oppose the most powerful nation on earth; the hubris of them!
