In February, a group of 12 local police chiefs and sheriffs, and two state senators...endorsed a letter of support for the three state troopers.

Ask any ATF or FBI agent your question about being a mere citizen. They WILL tell you that if any mere citizen would have been as cooperative as the Troopers were, the guns would have been seized and the "mere citizen" would have faced a misdemeanor with fine and NO FEDERAL JAIL TIME!!
