Nebraska Gun Owner Action Alert

From JoeMerchant24:
We need help here in Nebraska.

LB97 passed this morning, expanding the number of gun-free zones.

We need to get all of you to call Governor Dave Heineman at 402-471-2244 and politely ask him NOT TO SIGN LB97!!!!

There are so few days left in the session, we can pocket veto this.

There are talking points to be made to the guv at joemerchant24.blogspot.com

Thanks;
JM24

He has several posts explaining more. Please pass this info on to your friends in Nebraska and ask them to make the calls and spread the word.

I couldn't readily find if NRA or GOA have action alerts out to their members to ask the governor to veto this bill, but due to time constraints only gave their respective sites a cursory once-over. If anyone can shed some light on this, please enter a "Comment," below.

The NRA-ILA news feed mentions it. I haven't seen anything from GOA.

Yeah, I saw that--I meant alerts specifically calling for gun owners to contact the governor asking him to veto the bill.

Why aren't they using their resources to mobilize their members? Why is that left to a handful of obscure blogs?

The apologists are always putting down independent efforts, saying it takes resources away from the real and only truly effective political experts. So where are they?

Ahh--gotcha (a little slow on the uptake, but I'm there now). And I agree--you would think that the resources available to the big gun rights groups, they could do at least as much as the unpaid bloggers do to get the word out quickly on time-sensitive information regarding legislation coming down the pike.

The NRA sold us out.

They told the original bill's sponsor that they were cool with the University ban as long as the hospital ban was removed.

So I can only assume the NRA's lack of an action alert is due to their tacit approval of this measure.

I'd really like someone from the NRA to explain themselves for this.

FYI: Reports are that the governor's office is getting a lot of good traffic about this bill. Keep it up!!!!

Why does this not surprise me?

So the bottom line--if NRA isn't coming out against it, politicians and the governor have cover and there will be very little political price to pay.

What about GOA? Where are they on this?

It appears that Gov. Heineman signed the bill into law today.

Thanks, David, for the mention and the help. Sadly, as you stated, if the NRA isn't involved, we the little people have no chance.

So... A HUUUUUGE thank you to the esteemed NRA lobbyist for the Nebraska area. You sold us out. We won't forget.

(Say, can someone do all of us Nebraska gun owners a favor and pull this Limited Edition Commemorative NRA knife out of our collective back? Thanks.)

Two anti-gun measures; the NRA supported one and opposed the other. One out of two is 50%.

I give the NRA an NRA Rating of "F".

so....how about making stickers and posting them up on any signs that must be posted at schools. Remind people of just which people support the safety of murderers and want your children to be nothing more then moving targets?

Put a face to the law if you will. That way people can put money towards their removal next time and down the road if people forget who helped kill their child the can check easily.
