Walking the Walk

Zach Doty is raising eyebrows by taking the Second Amendment for a walk.

We've been discussing and admiring this young man for a few days now.

I was thinking that it would be cool to get a collection going to raise money to buy young Steven something a little more authoritative (and less politically correct) than a .22--maybe an AR-15 (or an SKS, if we needed to do it on the cheap). Then I had the bright idea (I thought) of buying the gun from Red's Trading Post--and really upsetting the statist herbivores, but the Dotys apparently live at nearly the opposite end of the state from Red's, making that idea impractical.

Oh boy, if people did that here they'd either be shot to death or put in jail for a very, very long time. I wish these kids the best! Don't be discouraged by the fascists and the hand-wringers!

P.S. I want opinions. Have Americans, like those in the article, always endorsed such snitching on people exercising their rights? Or is this a 20th century phenomenon?

Mike B--I think you can go back to the Salem witch trials, or Revolutionary-era colonials turning in a neighbor working in violation of the Sabbath, to why the Underground Railroad needed to be kept secret from your neighbors, to...

I think you see where I'm going with this. I don't think it's a modern phenomenon. I think at any given time, only a handful of the enlightened who love Liberty exist and act accordingly--and the rest are either anatagonistic or detached.
