Violent crime could have an effect on interstate commerce which has an influence on government spending and the treasury as well as federal wages which are also paid out of the treasury and can involve prisons paid for out of the treasury so therefore it is an appropriate domain for treasurer type officers to enforce laws regulating violent crime. Cough cough cough, vomit....
