"2) I was offered a plea "bargain". The Feds would drop all the charges but one (didn't matter which one) and I'd be convicted of a single felony. The Feds would ask for the lowest possible punishment, which would be no jail time. They would also give me till January 12th, 2006 to sell off my firearm collection (once a felon, you can't posses firearms)"
Herein lies the reason why it is dangerous allow exceptions to inalienable rights based on felony convictions or mental illness. The disarmers rely on the fact that the public will understand the popular connotation of the term "felony", but it actually means whichever crimes are classified as such.
This man did not commit murder, assault or rob anyone at gunpoint, yet he is now a felon. Considering the disarment movement's disregard for the legality of prior restraint, or ex post facto law, we can arrive at the conclusion that at some point, it will also be a felony to possess a magazine which holds more than 10 rounds.
Just remember that the BAT-men are under the watch of Alberto "Ramos and Campion" Gonzalez... Or perhaps his attention is elsewhere?
