Issuance of the permit is almost completely discretionary, and New Jersey courts have upheld the policy of strictly limiting permits “to persons specifically employed in security work . . . and to others who can establish an urgent necessity for carrying guns for self-protection.”[Via Tony G]

NJ carry permits are basically impossible to get unless you're politically connected, famous, rich, or you can prove "urgent necessity for self-protection". (Does a chalk outline qualify?) Ordinary citizens have almost no chance to get one.
What if you start a security company, and hire yourself as your bodyguard?
