Gun Amnesty Yields Its Bounty

Edmonton has the worst record in Canada for firearms homicides, Statistics Canada reported Wednesday...

The finding comes on the heels of a provincewide gun amnesty last year that allowed Albertans to hand over unregistered firearms without punishment.

Edmonton police Chief Mike Boyd said the service may discuss offering another such amnesty with the province.

Because the first one worked so well, no doubt.

Q.E.D. and all that. Maybe they should put up signs...

Could it be the killers do their dirty work, then wait for the gun amnesty to dispose of the evidence? If so, that might be the reason Edmonton has the worst record.

"Yeah, I killed a guy then got the cops to destroy the evidence." he laughed.

I don't know, but it doesnt sound like a viable crime fighting strategy to me.
