Montana Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester are among nine Senate Democrats who signed the brief.
Daniel Barnett sent this to me, and added "Be sure to listen to the MP3 accompanying the article as well. Would that the Democratic Party could clone this guy - that would be one way to give Feinstein and Schumer a permanent case of heartburn."
No question, it would be an improvement, but I do note GOA gives Tester a "B" and Baucus a "D." I don't know why, so if you do, feel free to educate us.
I know Daniel is reaching out, and I don't want to discourage that--but my problems with his party as a whole is I just can't figure what part of their platform even remotely respects the clear limitations imposed by this. Of course, I could say the same thing about the modern "Big Tent" Vichy Conservative faction that's taken over the Republicans, too.
As an aside, note the characteristic ignorant assumption of the "Authorized Journalist" reporting this story:
They want the court to rule the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own guns for their protection.
How the hell are these morons supposed to be watchdogs for Liberty when they don't have a clue as to what rights are?

Hutchison and Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., who also signed the brief, agreed that some restrictions are valid, citing their support for banning assault weapons.
It sure doesn't fit well with this:
Tester said he would oppose any efforts to bring back bans on assault weapons.
Both men also said they favored doing away with a 1986-passed cap on the number of fully automatic weapons available for sale.

Tester said he favored repealing the law and would consider "any (other) piece of legislation that will protect our Second Amendment rights and help fight the war on terror."
Good catch, 45. On further review, it seems like these Senators think that the DC ban can be overturned without depriving Congress of the ability to pass another semi-auto ban:

A subtle difference in wording, but still a profound difference in application.
That said, I am a bit perplexed about this alleged support for Congress to have the power to target semi-auto rifles. Russ Feingold is probably as liberal as they come, and he opposed the ban as far back as 1994. At least someone was paying attention back then...
I think Tester, Webb, et al need to clarify their position on the ban before someone starts accusing them of doublespeak.
Once again, the second amendment doesn't give me a damn thing! Nothing!
It tells government to keep its hands off what is already mine.
I have no doubt that Authorized Journalist is college graduate, one cannot get that stupid without training.
