"Today I'm asking every resident of Chicago to turn in their firearm -- shotgun, rifles, automatic, semi automatic, pistol, revolver… No questions asked," Daley said.What--did he read our old Citizens of America radio ad script?

Maybe this is an appropriate point in time to actively evolve the English language.
Suggestion: simply replace "turn in" with "turn to".
Just a thought.
(Molon labe, JBTs. No questions.)
Turn in your firearms and BE destroyed. Me, I'm part of the gun culture, I'd rather be destroyed along with my firearms. Gen. Savage comes to mind. "Stop writing the letters and making plans about what you'll do after the war. Start thinking of yourselves as already dead. The sooner you do that, the sooner you'll be able to get used to the idea and you'll be able to do your jobs." Savage later cracked up because he didn't know how to deal with his own feelings of watching other men he loved die. The answer is, nobody gets over it, you just go on. So, my take is, come and get me, it is a good day to die. But I ain't turnin' in shit. And I will have some company for the Voyage.
The Price is $200 per gun in New York. We are being ripped off in Chicago !

I wonder if we'll be able to rely on the Chicago govt to report how many weapons they actually got to buy back...and in what condition they were.
Gun owners should start getting together and setting up a table outside these locations and buying the few good guns that would be going to the turn in and let the government buy the junk. Do this enough times you can have a nice collection and cause these turn ins to become a true waste of money.
+1 loose cannon...at least where transfer of nonliving private property between citizens hasn't been regulated away for our own good.
I just glanced at the headline and saw, "Turn in Your Guns Or Be Destroyed". Needless to say, that scared me some. Even so, I still think there's some truth to the way I saw it.
Damn scary, if you ask me.
Why doesn't he just ask for criminals to turn themselves in? It makes about as much sense. Putz.
