The daughter of St. Louis Police Chief Joe Mokwa and an untold number of police officers got free use of cars from a company with a lucrative police contract to tow and store cars, the department admitted on Friday.Because not only are "Only Ones" more special than you, so are their kids.
I think if one of us did the same thing, they'd call it "joy riding," or more simply, "stealing."
So naturally, "the Police Board and its lawyers said no laws were broken."

I'm kinda surprised they didn't just conduct the investigation themselves before claiming that no laws were broken. After all, they are "only ones," so who could possibly question their independence on the matter? I find it interesting that the article quotes the other agency's claim that it is very unusual to not involve a different group of "only ones" to do the investigation.

You know, I hadn't really been following the story about the St. Louis police chief's daughter getting arrested. Then I saw the mugshot. Good Lord, I don't know whether to pray for her or run for help. She's pleaded not guilty to stealing a credit card, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Additionally, a police report the Riverfront Times obtained under the state public-records law describes yet another incident on March 15 of that same year, in which [Aimie] Mokwa was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm after firing four rounds from her husband's 9 mm Beretta in the kitchen of the couple's south St. Louis home, while Goodrich was in a bedroom. Associate city counselor David Miller says he gave Mokwa a choice: She could plead guilty to the charge and be placed on probation for a year, or she could plead guilty to a charge of peace disturbance and pay a $200 fine. She chose the latter. Miller says he offered the plea because Mokwa was a first-time offender and there was no evidence she'd aimed at anyone."
Rushton's story also includes a description of a 2002 mishap in which she had rammed her Dodge Neon into two parked cars on dry, well-lighted pavement. Police determined the accident, in which Mokwa's Neon flipped and landed on its roof, to "inattention" on the driver's part.
