Remington CEO Issues Statement on HS-Precision

I just got off the phone with Tommy Millner, President and CEO of Remington Arms Company.

First, he assures me the email reproduced on AR15.com is authentic.

He has been in contact with HS-Precision management after getting blindsided by the Lon Horiuchi development, and has also personally read and responded to every email sent to him by concerned customers.

He assures me Remington takes this situation, and lack of response by HS-Precision, very seriously, and completely disapproves of what they have done. He tells me Remington is committed to doing the right thing by their thousands of customers, up to and including changing suppliers if there is no other way to go forward.

As a personal note, I was impressed by his accessibility and candor. We've got a guy caught up in a situation not of his making trying to do the right thing, and my recommendation is to trust that he will.

At this point, we need to see what HS-Precision does next.

And THAT is the BIG question...

This is why I have two Remington rifles. I will be buying a new shotgun in the new year and it looks like Remington again for me. Good job Tommy Millner and David.

Good on him. And David, thanks for taking the time to follow up with this. I will be purchasing another 870 when I get back home just bc of his response.

Good for Remington. I wish they would refuse to deal with the worst offender as far as violation of gun rights is concerned (those government contracts), but I understand the reality of the market.

That sort of response earned my business. I WILL be buying a Remington based on the character displayed by Mr. Millner

Not an idle comment as I am a guy who purchased firearms for both his 8yr daughter (on the junior CMP shooting team!) AND for Mrs. 1894c too this Christmas. Not to mention maybe something for Dad too.

Millner and thereby Remington has earned my business.

Thanks for keeping us informed of this David!

Don't mean to be a nit-picker, but 'see what HS does *next*'?

Have they done anything yet?

Kudos to Tommy Millner!

I hope the rest of the industry is watching. Has anyone heard from Savage yet?

I emailed him on Sunday to thank him for taking this seriously, and for pressuring them in a way that a bunch of unhappy internet posters cannot. He sent me a quick note of thanks within 30 minutes. At the time I just assumed he was some mid-level sales and marketing guy. I'm extremely impressed with Remington across the board here. Whatever H-S Precision ends up doing, at least there will be a winner coming out of this whole fiasco.

This is twice now that Tommy Millner has stood up for us. Both times he did it quickly and with a full understanding of our concerns. I wish other CEOs had as firm a grasp on the shooting world as he does.

Thank you Mr. Millner.

I own a 597, but it looks like I will be purchasing another Remington product as soon as I can get the wife on board... probably an 870, as I *embarrassingly* enough don't yet own a shotgun...

Read my post from when this came about. HS will do nothing because they can't. Here's why I say that. They have no scapegoat in this because this comes from the top down. If they try and stick it on some poor lackey in the company they face a lawsuit from the lackey and would be eaten alive in court. They can't come out and say we are sorry, because that would only mean they are sorry because they got popped and are losing money.
This whole matter makes me think that the folks at the top of HS are cool aid drinkers who see people who speak out against federal unfairness and who support the United States Constitution. As freaks and more than likely borderline criminal types. This matter goes deep and coming clean is going to be hard if not impossible to do. Nevertheless, you can bet they are doing damage control and for the time being doing the only smart thing. Not digging the hole deeper. That's my take from reading into this matter, but who really knows but the one's who refuse to talk.

I really, really need a new shotgun! Really, I do! The only one I have is a bitty H&R .410 and it's old as the hills.

Got to save my pennies for a little while first, but I think I know just what I want now.

Thanks Remmington, and Mr. Millner for helping me make up my mind. :)

Well this is why I will buy Remington again. and do so shortly since obama plans to ban all guns.

Remington has done the right thing and They deserve our support.

Besides they have the best rifles out there.

Thanks David and Thanks Mr. Millner. I too will be in the market for another Remington very soon.

Well I went and bought a new R25 308.

Im glad Remington has brass with balls.

Remington also makes the R-15 Green/black rifle now - they aren't stuck on a mountain sniping from the Fuddsvillania redoubt across the Stiffserjoch.
If Wincheseter had stuck its swirly script on the side of an AR they could still be making Model 94's in Connecticut.
I'll buy Winchester in multiples before I even thing of anything close to H-S.

Proud owner of an 870 and looking for something practical in .30-06, .30-30, or .308. This could be my Remington year...

Mr. Gallo, go and stand in the corner. Good grief, man: young people come to this site... have you no shame?

I will buy a Remington (Zastava) Mauser derivative this year, and strip it of all of it's receiver parts, sans barrel, to complete my Mauser Masterpiece project.

The comment card? Youbetcha. I'm mailing it directly to Mr. Millner, with my thanks for his courage and integrity.

I could get the bolt assembly much cheaper on Gunbroker. I have the bolt stop already, and I'll still have to buy the hinged triggerguard of I prefer over the 'sidebutton' Zastava part.

It'll cost me about $200 above what I need to thank Mr. Millner, but I'll do it.

Money well spent, I hasten to add.

HSP finally responds, and it's pretty pathetic IMO.

So.... H-S doesn't differentiate between the testimonial of a murderer and anyone else? Are they too stupid to breathe?

It seems So Kent ....

I too intend to send an Atta'boy e-mail to Remington and Mr Milner.

Meanwhile OFF has posted a list of all of their distributors.
