We're the Only Ones the Better to See You With My Dear Enough

Addition of specialized supervisors’ vehicles (Tahoe, sport utility vehicles): The additional equipment being carried by supervisors such as AR-15’s, extra ammo, body armor and helmets, less-than-lethal weapons etc required more storage space, and these specialized vehicles allow for that need space. These vehicles also have F.L.I.R. (Forward Looking Infra-Red); some are hand-held units while some are mounted to the roof of the supervisor’s vehicle. [More]
FLIR.

I guess...

Any guesses on how much nicer Irving--and the rest of this country--was "[p]rior to 1940 [when] Irving did not have a paid police force. Just one man, Frank Pate, acted as Constable, City Marshal, and Night Watchman...?

can't imagine what the police need hand-held FLIR for.

and i don't think the people waiting for an opportunity to steal these goodies will be able to figure it out, either.

It is kinda nice that Irvine lists all the other goodies carried in said vehicles! Maybe because GEN I night vision is so inexpensive, law enforcement decided to "Beat the Jones'" with FLIR. You get to see who is where in ANY home without a warrant, too! And hand-held? Such a reasonable way to see if anyone's behind the door before entry!

I think it's time to give a buzz to those kop buster folks.

Also time to work on FLIR defeating tech.

Several of the other Dallas suburbs have car-mounted FLIR. All the the Ford Expeditions and quite a few of the Crown Vics in Richardson have roof-mounted FLIR as well as NV-capable video on the dash, all recordable.
Plano, Frisco, and McKinney use it too.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Space Blankets. Mylar reflective foil that holds body heat in. Used to be a suit you could buy called RedOut or Red-Out.
All the technology in the world will not avail them if the worse comes to the worst, because we will not BE at home. We'll be at THEIR home, and their office.

Their mission page says

"In the spirit of mutual responsibility, partner with neighborhoods and business to identify and solve problems that lead to crime"

Does any of that involve maintaining a strong 2 parent family? Does the towns radio blare songs that glorify gratituous sex with as many anonymous partners as possible? Why am I skeptical

Irving cops have had the jackboot spirit for DECADES. This isn't surprising in the least.
