"Chicago Spirituality Examiner"...
Why did I think that was "Snuffy"?

It has been about 500 years since Christianity resorted to converting people through threat of death. Until other religions catch up, be polite, but have a plan. And a gun. They don't mind housing explosives and escaped terrorists in THEIR houses of worship or killing us by the score in OURS.
Jesus wouldn't WANT to shoot ANYONE, but he wouldn't like all the helpless bystanding that goes on as bad people do it.
David,
It looks like your Examiner buddy Robert V. Thompson is actually arghuing *against* rights here - both the rights of the churches, and the rights of the citizens.
I was especially disgusted with his "barrage of bullets" scenario.
I think he may be taking the shepherd/sheep metaphor a little too literally.
No buddy of mine. And yes, he is arguing against rights.
Examiner publishes opinions from across the spectrum. There are plenty of lefties.
David Quick search on the name:
The Rev. Robert V. Thompson is Senior minister of the Lake Street Church of Evanston, Illinois. Formerly the Chair of the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
Revels this at his churches site:
The Reverend Robert V. Thompson became the minister of Lake Street Church in 1980, after having served pastorates in Kansas and Ohio. A native of California, his interest in seminary increased after he was issued a low draft lottery number. Consequently, he enrolled in the Berkeley Baptist Divinity School (a member of the Graduate Theological Union) in Berkeley, California in 1970.
California , Berkeley. Hmm explains a lot right there.
I know, man! I was just teasing :)
I called the scumbag out in his comment section.
If Rev. Thompson was once Chair of the Parliament of the World's Religions, I'll bet he's not a true Christian, per John 3:7 and John 3:16.
Luke 22:36 (NIV)
[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."
I responded on his site too as did MamaL, only I wasn't nearly as nice as ML.
Thanks, and the strain of staying nice tends to shred my lower lip at times... but it is far more effective in the long run. :)
