Wrong Reactions to Shooting Sprees Make Us More Vulnerable

[I]t is clear that an evil, abnormal freak's actions are being manipulated to make the rest of us even more vulnerable to such monsters.

In the name of public safety... [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column follows up on the Alabama shooting spree, looks in on the Brady blood dance, highlights an interesting fact about the killer, and wonders just what the hell the Army is doing in Samson. It also includes links to related columns by my GRE colleagues.

My questions have been:

WHO requested/authorized this incursion (invasion) of federal Regular Army troops?

For what purpose were they called in?

For an outrageous blog that calls for more local gun control in DC because of this incident and the mass killing in Germany, see

Democracy in action - the tyranny of the majority, despite rights specified in the Constitution.

My humble opinion is troops were called in because the government believed McLendon might have been the point man in some kind of militia action in response to ... gee, I don't know, THE NEWS? The news that we've all been seeing for about 6 months, billion-dollar investment fraud by big contributors to politicians and golden parachutes and bailouts for the fraudsters (McLendon lost a couple of jobs recently, though he was described as a good solid worker and nice person), and all the other insults and injuries The People have had inflicted on them?
If they ever deploy troops in my area, I hope they stand in the middle of the street just like these.

Ohmigawd. Two people were killed last night right close to my neighberhood.
Wait a minute. One was hit by a car, the other by a TRAIN.
Quick, the manufacturers' names and the engine horsepower, so we'll know what to ban.
