Braindead, evidently.

If that had happened in America, people probably would have been shooting at it.

(Now, don't go whining that NYC is in America. You and I both know it's about as much "America" as the UN building is.)

2:41pm today? i saw a jet doing circles around the martha's vineyard area at about 2:30pm. a real nice looking jet. real low circles, and tight enough that i saw/heard it three times in my 20-25 minute afternoon walk between the parking lot and the building.

could have been teddy. could have been someone visiting teddy. were any other planes around the country doing this?

Even more hilarious, last week they evacuated some building in DC due to a Cessna 172 in the "no fly zone".

A Cessna 172.

For the record, your average mid-sized sedan has more damage potential than a 172 has. Certainly when colliding with a concrete or masonry structure.

If you will recall, a few years ago a disgruntled person flew a 172 into the White House. Scratched the paint on the building, severely damaged the plane. Also, another poor disturbed person flew a rented 172 into an office building or apartment building in Florida a few years ago. Destroyed the plane, started a small fire, and killed the pilot. Nobody in the building was seriously injured.

The media reports about small planes are about the control, not the threat.

I concede that a 747 or other "heavy" is significantly more threatening. But, you have to wonder if these reports are an attempt to induce fear, and not just a PR oversight.

I would surmise that it's extremely difficult to keep an eye on the altimeter while flying with one's head jammed up one's anal orifice.

This was Air Force One, right? So presumably the Lightbringer was aboard? Why'n'hell didn't peace and goodness break out spontaneously among the crowds, so blessed were they to be in The Presence? Why didn't flowers bloom and unicorns hail from the sky?

Why? Why??? Could it be it's all a lie? I'm so disillusioned...

You know, I can understand not wanting to release the flight plan of any of the presidential transport planes. It doesn't take much of an imagination to figure out how people on the ground would react to this. Of course, they had to throw in a couple f-16's to top it off. All for a photo op.

one word comes to mind... Photoshop

Just sayin.

Wanted a close look at the Teardrop monument to 9/11 victims? That's the big ovoid sculpture in the little park.

... somehow ... in some way ... this must be Bush's fault.

The funniest part was Mayor Blumberg's reaction - indignation that he was not consulted first.
Funny how the tail always wants to wag the dog.

Was this a mistake because the government folks got relaxed over time because they knew there was no threat because they had no intention of crashing any jets and blowing up any buildings. So they had a brain fart and slipped up?
Because of this action you can bet people who say that 9-11 was an inside job are going to say that.
In light of the past, I'm blown away that these idiots are really that stupid and cluelessly remote to the real world.

"People on the street panicked, starting yelling and running, with thoughts of 9/11 in the back of their minds."

I think thoughts of 9/11 were a little closer to the front of their minds. Pretty much crowding all other thoughts completely out of their minds.

Oh, the humanity!

I don't care. Good! I am glad they were scared shitless. They have been trying so hard to forget how we felt on 9/12, they have been trying so hard to make everyone defenseless, that it is nice to see them remember how it feels to be defenseless when you fear for your lives.
