We're the Only Ones Confiscating "Illegal" Firearms Enough

A federal jury unanimously convicted Williams in December of three counts of possessing unregistered firearms after a three-day trial. The charges were in connection with Williams illegally taking personal possession of illegal weapons seized by his police department. [More]
Now hold the phone a minute--he got them "off the streets" and into the hands of a highly-trained "Only One," didn't he?

Just what's the damn problem here...?

So, if I understand this correctly, the Chief was arrested for having in his possession "illegal" guns taken from criminals off of the street, and then failing to register these illegal weapons with the Feds?

Wouldn't this approach require two things from the police forces around the country? Namely, that the local forces have an obligation to register illegal guns once confiscated (a paperwork nightmare to begin with), else they be prosecuted , said "transfer" occurring without the proper paperwork under NFA34 and taxes paid. And, also, if possession is illegal by criminals, then wouldn't possession ALSO be illegal by Law Enforcement? As such, wouldn't the act of registering an illegal weapon be a violation of the 5th Amendment rightd of the officers?

I am sure I am missing something here...maybe I am missing the legality of NFA34?

If I have it right he had a full auto and to other NAF illegal guns a short barrel rifle along with a short barrel shotgun. If my simple arithmetic holds water he could have got ten years on each one totaling 30 years day for day in the federal pen.
One has to asked this question: Would any other American citizen who was not an parasite have received the same slap on the wrist?

So the Chief of Police stole the illegal NFA guns and got caught. OK< bet he didn't know, just a simple mistake, right. Well it worked for Geitner.

That's sort of like the part where the media keeps saying that guns from the USA end up in Mexico and get traced back to the USA, without adding -- Yes, and to the gun store, and to the person who bought them. Ever heard of the form 7773? Guess not.

"He said the charges will have a "chilling effect" on law enforcement officers."....

Yeah, from taking home M-16's from the evidence room. And keeping them....

English stressed both during his closing arguments and to the media after the trial's conclusion that hundreds of thousands of illegal weapons rest in the hands of law enforcement officers and that those weapons aren't registered.
Almost sound like time for some no-knock raids...
