I begin to understand why people come out of jail meaner than they went in. It's not always INMATE gangs humiliating and preying on them.

Are you sure that they didn't kill the unsuspecting inmate? As I recall, spitting on a cop can be considered attempted murder depending on your disease state (i.e. if you are HIV positive). Do we know what STDs mr Triplett is suffering from, or even if he is suffering from STDs?
Based on my experiences of working in a prison pharmacy, this could easily be a case of murder by infectious disease. (We dispensed a LOT of AIDs meds and a LOT of herpes meds.)
