The D.C. Gun List

I just got an email asking this:
I understand that the Washington, DC " elitobots" have recently expanded the list of acceptable guns. Do you know where one may find access to this list?
Here's my response. As you can see, it's more of a guess than a statement of authority. If anyone can give a more precise answer, please educate us all:
It sounds like this is what you're asking about. In terms of a "list," it sounds like a bit of chasing around is needed:
"In addition to permitting guns in the District that are legal in California, the city will also allow residents to apply to register handguns that are permissible in Massachusetts and Maryland."
I'm sure there is some overlap in the various lists.

Here's where you would start for CA:
http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

MD:
http://www.mdsp.org/services/handgun.asp

and MA:
http://www.mass.gov/Eeops/docs/chsb/firearms/Approved%20Firearms%20Roster%2004-2009.pdf

Note I have not had time to give any of these sites more than a cursory glance and am unlikely to dig much deeper. It could well be that DC has developed a comprehensive list that takes care of the work for you, and I'm just unaware of how to find it.

I doubt they have, but it could be. In any case, this is the best I'm likely to be able to do for you. My suggestion would be to call NRA if you need more info.

"These new rules are part of our continuing effort to develop reasonable laws and regulations governing gun ownership in the District," Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) said in a statement.

The paradigm that gun ownership is something open to "governing" needs to be overthrown and its entire premise refuted and found unacceptable at every turn.

The New Paradigm: Any governance over gun ownership is an infringement and unacceptable.

MA has two lists:
One from the Dept. of Public Safety
and One from the Attorney General (consumer safety)
Just because a gun is on the DPS list does not mean you can legally posses it.
After being approved by DPS the manufacturer must have it tested to meet the AG's specs (10 lb. trigger pull, etc.)or else they can't be sold in MA

I noticed on the Massachusetts list (dated 4/2009) that the Sig P250 was not listed - a glaring omission.
Also, many of Sig's pistols on the California list will expire in 2009 and 2010. What would happen if companies such as Sig outright refused to cooperate with this scheme. Do these weapons then become evil?
Just as states like California like to dictate to the automobile industry, it appears that using the Intersate Commerce Act, the federal government needs to standardize product availablity nationwide. Criminalizing sale or possession of an "off-list" product appears to be the ultimate tariff imposed on interstate trade.

We are U.S. citizens. As citizens, we should be able to buy, possess and carry whatever and wherever we please so long as we do not endanger others unjustifiably. We are responsible for what we do. Why should any government be concerned for what we might do? Who do they think they are, King George III?

The lists of approved guns are in the paragraph entitled "Recent Regulatory Changes".

Fenty is a lying Son of a Bitch! ALL of his asinine gun control laws and regulations were "reasonable" before Heller and he and his ilk are being dragged kicking and screaming into a post Heller world. I really feel sorry for the poor bastard - Oh Yeah!

Now, do y'all want to know what I really think?
