An assistant manager was in the store, and he came out right away to speak to us. He said he had called the police, but after they had determined no shots were being fired and we were causing no problems, he was told that open carry was legal in SD and, I guess, the conversation ended there. No police were dispatched. [More]Mama Liberty provides anecdotal evidence that the biggest problem we have with government is ignorant citizens.
Good on the cops for not acting like "Only Ones."

While there may never be a shortage of "ingnorant citizens", I don't think that is the biggest problem we have with government.
Hard to say, anonymous. I'd really like to see more of the informed and aware folks doing something to educate the ignorant ones anyway.
Just a little pet project of mine. :)
Open carry is rumored to be legal in Arkansas, but there are so many restrictions on it that as a practical matter it is not.
That makes it very hard to get anything done. When you talk to your state reps they reply "It's already legal". When you reply that it isn't possible to open carry without violating some law or restriction unless you stand still in your own front yard where you can't be seen by others, they promise to look into it, then say to themselves "fuck him".
The media and politicians have drilled into the sheeple's heads that no gun is a good gun unless worn by an "Only One." All others are verbotten.
Plus, regardless of the "law", LEOs will do what they want to you. I know this from being told this personally by a sheriff where open carry was completely "legal". He promised to arrest me if I set foot out my front door with a gun unless I had a permit or a hunting license. I had done nothing; only asked about the local "law".
sounds like a good candidate for target of the week
