Houston police officers suggested that licensed handgun holders continue to show their credentials, even if not required to by the law. [More]How about if Houston "Only Ones" assume everybody is armed, and conduct themselves accordingly with politeness and respect...?

David,
I called Texas DPS on September 1st to confirm this and was told that could not answer ANY questions since they did not have the statutes. I asked her how this could be since the Texas DPS PIO (Public Information Office) had issued a PDF and alerts via Twitter stating such (from PIO PDF PIO 2009-40):
"HB 2730 removes DPS authority to suspend a concealed handgun license (CHL) for the holder’s failure to display the CHL to a peace officer on demand. It removes associated penalties and suspensions for the failure to display."
Oh, and Texas DPS can be behind, breaking Texas law about clearing CHL's but have time to post via Twitter and refuse to answer because of lack of a copy of statutes on hand- even though I was not the first to call.
