Situation Normal, AFU

Steps have been taken to tighten restrictions on who gets onto the post...[More]
That's not where the danger came from.
Despite the availability of resources, many soldiers have expressed reluctance to seek mental health care...
Yeah, no kidding...

If it were not so tragic, it would be hilarious.

It is reminiscent of the morons in some Post Offices who place metal detectors at the customer entrances.

It wasn't well received when I asked why they were not placed at the employee's entrance - which is where the ones "going postal" entered.

"...reluctance to seek mental health care..."

Gee, I wonder why? NOT!

Word is "hedueled". A reference to Burr or Hamilton, perhaps?

This is the type of response that can be expected to the vague command "Do something".

None of these steps, singly or all together, if implemented earlier, would have prevented what happened.

This appears to be a modern variant of "superstition", defined by Webster's New College Dictionary as "any belief, based on fear or ignorance, that is inconsistent with the known laws of science or what is generally considered in the particular society as true and rational".

Witch bane, anyone?

"Soldiers assigned to Fort Hood will have to register their personal firearms with the director of emergency services, he added."

I wonder who that applies to? Register my P.O.W.s even though I live off post? Chuck you Farley.

When I was on active duty at Robins AFB, GA., I was informed at the newcomers briefing that those residing on the base, which I was, had to store all firearms at the base armory. I challenged it, even went to the Security Police building and asked them to show me the regulation. They couldn't produce it, finally stating with some exasperation, that it was a standing "verbal order" of the base commander. I never did obey that unsubstantiated rumor, which is all it really was as far as I was concerned.

I would recommend to any soldiers living in Post Quarters to resist the "registration" scheme. I would rather have taken all my firearms, but for one or two handguns, to my parents house for storage than to have left them at the base armory.

"Relaxed entry will cease," ....

You mean no more Obama State Dinners? Oh wait, that's another story.

Yep, that's become the American way, fuck with everybody who didn't do it, because a) it's safer for the enforcers, b) the stupid among us will think they are doing something, and c) it usurps more power of self defense and liberty from the innocent through the good offices of murderous monsters.

A win/win for everybody but the innocent. Yea!
