Like Cuba with Cars

"California will become like Cuba with cars," said Lawrence Keane, senior counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which represents the gun industry. "You will only be able to get very old models of guns." [More]
Pretty much, Mr. Keane, and that's the way the rulers want it.

But funny thing about Cuba: Uncle Fidel seemed to be doing all right in the nice wheels category, and his Los Unicos seem to be doing OK in the weaponry department.

Just like California.

I don't suppose you'd like to use your industry leadership position and maybe follow Ronnie Barret's example?

No?

Gun laws, like drug laws, fall before the law of supply and demand.
My guess is, the CRIMINAL market for guns is saturated. Those weapons will be operational for a hundred years or more. If anyone thinks this tracing gimmick is going to affect CRIME, they need a checkup from the neck up.
But that's not the idea. It's to quell rebellion, the kind that matters. There will be no anonymous freedom fighters, thanks to Big Brother.

How hard is it to swap out a firing pin? For that matter why would a criminal using an illegally obtained gun care if it gets tracked back to a burglary victim? In the unlikely event criminals -- not often noted for high IQ's -- actually care about such things, a revolver will not leave any brass behind unless reloaded. It is also much easier to police the expended brass. Anecdotal evidence indicates that the S&W 38 spl revolver is still the most common gun in the black market.

This law is not aimed at criminals and both sides know it. It is a deliberate gambit by the hoblophobes and is aimed directly at legal gun ownership.

This is not going to end well.

Everything is fine in California. They have a Republican governor and in the next election they just need to elect more republicans and that will get all of their gun laws repealed. In the meantime they just need to write their legislators and tell them how displeased they are with ca's laws.

In a related note, CTD will be stopping all ammo sales to CA after their registration scheme comes on line. That includes gov't agencies and law enforcement according to their reps.

I will be surprised, pleasantly so, if more than one or two people in the business embargo Ca.

Let's face it, Ronnie Barrett is special, he walks his talk. As should we all, but most by far, never do. They pretend you can compromise principle when what they actually did was surrender.

Compromise of principle is surrender. Barrett and people like him don't surrender. They have to be beaten, and that ain't ever easy. Let's all be like that, to Hell with pragmatism and those who practice it as a guiding principle.

Pragmatism of process is fine in pursuit of principle, pragmatism in lieu of principle is a hateful cowardly thing.

Caught a few minutes of 'Steel Challenge' competition on the tube of boobs today; venue was in CA; all I can do is ask why do the organizers stay there?
