Finder, along with a group called Ceasefire PA has launched a grassroots campaign to get local governments to sign on to what's become a highly controversial law called "Lost and Stolen Ordinances." Supporters of gun rights hate it. The ordinances require gun owners to report if their weapons have been lost or stolen usually within 24 hours. [More]The one thing that's never mentioned in this--and I wish the pro-gun people they interview would pick up on this--is there is one group that will always be immune to these stupid edicts: the criminals who are causing the problem.
Why, you ask?
Since they're "prohibited persons," how can you compel them to incriminate themselves if their gun is stolen? And since they're "prohibited persons," they can't "legally" own guns in the first place.

This isn't about helping the cops track down the actual thief, and it's not about "straw buyers". It's about creating a new "criminal" out of a crime victim, and thus, a new "prohibited person".
These laws victimize a crime victim a second time by the state, much as a rape victim is brutalized a second time by the courts.
Oh, we should all just follow the law, it's for our own good anyway. I mean if they have to put us all in jail for being crime victims, it's probably for our own good, right? I mean if it doesn't do anything to stop, prevent,or solve crimes, it's for our own good, right? And if the state wants to use a cockamamy idea to enslave us, so what?
"Lost and Stolen Ordinances."
Cute, real cute. Which fooktard authorized idiot authored this odd construct?
