I say, old chap, he didn't recognize the real pirates when they boarded his ship. Oh, well, stiff upper lip and all that rot!
The judge it seems, is aware that the pirates are in the Pacific, but not in Brixham. I bet if they were up his ass, he'd know where they were, too. Which is what he does all his deep, important thinking with as well.
