We're the Only Ones Not to be Second-Guessed Enough

Four cops - one in uniform, several in plainclothes with badges displayed - who were approaching the fight from several directions responded with a volley of 46 shots, likely killing one of the fighters, wounding the second 21 times and striking three civilians and two officers.

Pending the outcome of investigations by the NYPD and the Manhattan district attorney's office, the cops are not to be second-guessed. [More]
At least not by the authority worshiping "Authorized Journalists" of the New York Daily News.

Man with gun shoots man without gun = one dead or wounded.
Man with gun shoots man with gun who shoots back = two wounded or dead.
Man with gun with gun-fearing police with guns nearby = lots of collateral damage.
The Daily News solution will never happen. We will not disarm.
The price of freedom includes hot-headed fools involved in public mayhem, but they are exceedingly rare compared to 90 million responsible gun owners. And who is to say that the man with the gun was not in fear for his life? We're certainly not going to get the truth from Bloombergtown and its pet media.

We can only thank God that the 4 cops didn't have patrol rifles (sic) or sub machine guns. Really, 46 shots while surrounded by a "crowd of hundreds" who were innocent of any crime. I might understand it if the crowd was a mob hell bent on tasting some cop blood. But otherwise these guys need to be fired for a complete lack of judgment.

Second guess? Because of the disastrous outcome I hope the supervisors of these officer thoroughly review the actions of all involved, learn as much as possible, and change their policies and procedures with retraining of their officers immediately.

If any non-police carrier of a weapon had drawn a weapon and shot anyone other than the original fighter with the weapon, there would be serious consequences for the wanton and reckless disregard for the safety of others. Should possessing a badge really shield anyone from responsibility for their actions when alternatives existed?

Before you answer that question, ask yourself what you would do if your family and friends were close to the man fighting that had the gun.

Yeah, that's my home state for you. It makes me so proud to see what's become of one of the original thirteen colonies, were so many important battles were fought to bring our Constitutional Republic into existence.
