Gun owners dodged bullet on lead ammo ban

Here’s something that hasn’t been discussed much—outside of this readership—concerning the head of the EPA who allowed the petition to move forward in spite of a clear lack of authority to approve it:
Jackson "was responsible for banning bear hunting in New Jersey," and yet she was confirmed by the Senate despite that established history. Supporting such candidates should always be graded as an anti-gun vote. We just can't afford to let them slip under the radar.
That’s something we who believe in the right to keep and bear arms need to demand from our “gun lobby” groups if we hope to see things change. [More]

I notice the EPA says the petition to ban lead shot, bullets and fishing weights "did not provide sufficient research to justify such a ban." It did NOT say the EPA has no authority to institute such a ban. So a better-written petition could bring all this back again?
Keep in mind that most people believe being stabbed with a pencil can give you lead poisoning.
No, it's graphite.
