Point/Counterpoint

Workman vs. Hofmann.

I know whose side I'm on in this one.

How about you?

i happily condemn the "justice system" itself. long lines, poor service, product rations, price fixing, inhumane conditions -- all the classic symptoms of cartelization and monopoly.

just like health care's gonna be!

I'm with Kurt, for some of the same, and for some different, reasons.

I find it horrific that gun rights activists could applaud such a ruling.

I don't think we can afford many more such "victories."
In the thick daily fog of government abuses, I recall seeing the shadowy form of one law here in my state, proposing that the vehicles of drivers with suspended licenses be permanently confiscated when they are caught a second time. Those who say we should treat guns like cars -- license, registration, mandatory training and passing a competency test, whatever that entails -- must be pleased that they're beginning to treat cars like guns.
"...and also with being a convicted felon with a concealed firearm" is pretty much the standard ending for every news story about violent crime arrests in Richmond Va. today. It's a Mayors Against Illegal Guns city now, too. Makes no difference. The bad actors are willing to kill and die for whatever reason. One guy shot the first person he saw after midnight Dec. 31 so he could claim credit for the first murder of the new year. Thinking stricter gun laws are going to change that is worse than stupidity and incompetence; it is rank authoritarianism. It is the dumbing-down of liberty.

I am absolutely in the Hofmann camp on this issue.

Applauding this decision is handing the government thugs that enforce such laws the knife with which to stab us, our families, and our neighbors.

I'm with Hofmann, beyond any doubt.
