Speed traps aren't about safety, they're about $$$$.

My brother-in-law the doctor got called in for an emergency surgery at 3 a.m. He was making for the city at about 80 on a DESERTED expressway when he got pulled over. He explained, showed his hospital ID, offered to let the cop use his phone to call the surgeon who was waiting for him. He got a ticket anyway. The cop even held him an extra long time until he "calmed down." He talked to him as if he were a child. Observing the speed limit is more important than anything you'll be doing at the hospital. The patient will wait.
Oh, unless it's a wounded officer. Then I'll give you a 95-mph escort.

Not making any friends here, officer.

As Texas has over 2300 felonies on the books I'm surprised the clowns didn't find one that fit this situation.

In Florida, out-of-state drivers on Route 301 between Jacksonville and Gainesville should beware of the traffic signs in Lawtey, Hampton, Waldo and Starke. Enforcement of traffic laws is a major source of revenue for these towns. Recently, AAA advised travelers to avoid this highway and to use the extra miles of I-10 and I-75 to avoid these local town speed traps. AAA currently pays for warning signs on 301 to alert drivers.
