Is it time to apply the label "theater"? I'm thinking something like "Drug War Theater" but that's a little clumsy.
I can't even work "security" in there, because even the drugs are no longer in danger. They just sit in evidence lockers until such time as they're needed to plant on "suspects".
Another insightful article from Radley Balko.
Now, if he would only acknowledge YOUR insightful GRE's; that would be courteous.
For more detailed information on what happened to David Ruttenberg, see here.
It goes 4 pages!
Thanks for the information about the Ruttenberg case. The 30-man raid with drawn guns and ski masks looking for a liquor license violation... that alone is worth the price of admission.
No, I won't waste a single tear when the bastards get what they've been working so hard for.
Gotta wonder how all the various narcotics operations might actually be HELPING the drug trade, introducing wholesaler to retailer and so on, or at least exaggerating PERCEIVED demand.
A comedian says only one actual holiday fruitcake exists, but it changes hands so often it seems like thousands.
OK, I admit my last comment was stupid. Obviously there is big demand for mood-altering substances. Not all of us can afford a foreign junket to exotic locales totally at taxpayer expense, or using employees' pension money.
But how's that drug war workin' out for ya, Uncle?
$20 million worth of marijuana found in 11 railroad freight cars, bound for Chicago. Tons. Biggest seizure ever, they say.
Don't they know that's illegal?

All it takes to stop million-dollar smuggling schemes is a multi-billion-dollar government program.
