This is a placeholder for now because I have not had ads on this blog for years. In case I ever start up again, this will be the policy in effect:
The FTC has some fool nonsense rules about ads on blogs or some such and presumes authority over the First Amendment to compel the unfunded mandate that we who earn ad revenues make some kind of disclosure so you don't think we're getting paid to say nice things about people or God knows what, meaning they must think you're stupid, too. I have had a few ads on this site in the past and may do so again if I think it's worth a try. Combined, I probably couldn't buy a box of good cigars each year, let alone a bottle of George T. Stagg, and that is somehow supposed to compromise my morality to force me to say nice things about products and services I don't mean simply in exchange for filthy lucre. If you believe that, leave now--you're not smart enough to be here. Bottom line, aside from welcoming a sponsor, I will do no posts related to their products or services, or reviews of what they offer.
About "The Only Ones"
The purpose of this feature has never been to bash cops. The only reason I do this is to amass a credible body of evidence to present when those who would deny our right to keep and bear arms use the argument that only government enforcers are professional and trained enough to do so safely and responsibly. And it's also used to illustrate when those of official status, rank or privilege, both in law enforcement and in some other government position, get special breaks not available to we commoners, particularly (but not exclusively) when they're involved in gun-related incidents.
Comment House Rules
Keep them on topic. No spam. No threats against anyone except me. Do not feed trolls--I'll take out the trash. Try to keep it clean. I'm the final arbiter. If you don't like the rules, start your own damn blog.
Link Policy
WarOnGuns reciprocates links with liberty-oriented sites promoting the right to keep and bear arms for all peaceable individuals. If you have linked to me and don't see your site below, it's probably just because I haven't noticed it yet. Shoot me an email via the "Contact Form" (see above in this sidebar) if you want to fix that.
As a general rule I remove links for blogs that have been inactive for over one year.
This is just standard MO for the national socialists.

Well as the Democratic party is a living-breathing party, it is subject to change as required. Incidentally since we never voted for the 14th amendment it still doesn't really apply does it? As a matter of fact NONE of the amendments really apply, unless WE determine that they do at that particular point in time-correct? The only things that apply are those that are best for the party, and since the party pays a lot of bills in this country, what is good for the party had better be good enough for those of you we OWN, right? Think very clearly here. Without your ADC and EBT things wouldn't be quite so rosy, would they? Not only would you have to work to support your lifestyles, you would probably have one hell of a hard time finding a J O B. We haven't spent all of our time destroying the economy for nothing you know. This is not a warning. Just a friendly little reminder. Incidentally- If we ever need the armed forces of this country to fire on our fellow citizens, they will remember that they work for us as well, and don't you ever forget it!
This blog is a valuable voice in the wilderness, and I have read it for years.
But this article is a caricature of both actual events and why I respect this blog.
The KKK is a creation of white southerners. They happened to change party affiliations from the Democrats to the Republicans during the 1960s when Democratic presidents supported equality for blacks.
It is a disappointment you would swallow this mis-characterization of events.
Excuse me, but Boyle's article- which prompted this post- talks about the *origins* of a political movement, as did I.
And as far as the 60s go, Southern Democrats like Gore were against the civil rights act. As a percentage, more Republicans voted for it in both the House and Senate.
David, I find this disappointing as well. It's obvious that both political parties - and you know that by "both" I mean the single unified "one" party - are predisposed to authoritarianism, domination, fascism, and have underlying socialist agendas to steal money from one group and give it to another. The NYT's piece was a stupid attempt to draw parallels between the Tea Party and the Klan, but to counter that by linking to an anti-Democrat piece is just you participating in the same poo flinging blame game that has degenerated our political discourse. Wake up and smell the coffee, David: it's the "R" and "D" who are taking away your guns and want to drive us into impoverished servitude - you know this, but selectively ignore it when you see an attack on “Rs” or an opportunity to blame “Ds”. What you have more accurately shown is how driven by expediency (and not underlying ideology) the "D" and "R" positions have been when viewed over the scope of 80 years.
Boyle's opening salvo against the Klan, and presumably against "your party" (note: the words "Tea Party" are not in this article, nor does Boyle mention a specific movement to compare the Klan to today) are well founded. People being driven by fear and creating exclusive violence-based communities is alarming. I guarantee you that there are members of Tea Party who would say that you fundamentally have to be a God Fearing Christian if you want to attend Tea Party rallies, and similarly there are members of the Occupy Wall Street movement that would say you have to be an anti-Capitalist if you want to attend a General Assembly. Exclusionary communities and politics are dangerous.
The Klan, and their underlying hate-based arbitrary ideology, is still alive today. Like this nose-bleeding asshole who tried to spray paint bullshit on an Asian’s car to get back for Pearl Harbor: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=961_1323305158
You and I are white people, this shit is never going to happen to us. I wished that Asian guy was packing, because I love to see dead racists. You have got to understand the palpable, very real fear that people of color have about groups like the Klan will show up and ruin their lives. Violent racism is real, as you know, it's just not well organized - not yet, at least, but will be again someday and will probably have nothing to do with operating under the banner of Socialism. Any movement is just moments from fascism, and when the rhetoric starts becoming a blame game "Us vs Them" and then “Us should get Them” it becomes very dangerous. You shouldn’t pretend to dismiss that by believing only overtly Socialist or (National Socialists) operate exclusively under this modus operandi – you are simply blaming an “S” instead of a “D”. Similarly, Jonah Goldberg just blames the “P” for Progressives for the Klan, as if the P’s gained anything from the Klan or World War One.
The line that resonated most with me was Boyle's, "They had no interest in whipping anyone; that was the work of the Klan’s bully boys, the militant minority who in another setting would have been wearing brown shirts." Ten years later it would have been Khaki Shirts. A “militant minority” can change everything.

Funny how you're being attacked ... anonymously.
Others have critiqued that NYT article, including Jonah Goldberg.
