We're the Only Ones Standoffish Enough

Evidently, comment poster "Animal Lover" doesn't grok the irony...

Yes, it is to be expected that the cops would negotiate with one of their own.

God knows I ain't no holster sniffer.

But...

I live in Indy, and I have to say that the Indy SWAT team has showed remarkable restraint in comparison to many others we rightfully bitch about.

Last year here there was a lunatic with an axe who barricaded himself in a house. The Indy SWAT team was called out and they sweated the crazy dude until he gave up.

I'll try to find the story for more details.

Two different incidents where Indy SWAT did NOT kill the loonies. There are more like this here in Indy.

I almost hate to admit it, be seems to me these cops are the definition of "peace officers."

No offense, but I think we need to be careful about the broad brush stroke painting type thing.

I was referring to the "Only One" standing them off.

I hear you, David, but what I get from you posting this story is that if the armed guy pacing around in the park was NOT a fellow cop but a mere "mundane," the Indy SWAT team would have gone nuclear on him.

All I'm saying is that recent history shows Indy SWAT has behaved themselves like they should.

Sorry if I misconstrued your post.

Good thing he didn't call the "suicide hotline" - God only knows what would have happened then. It's a safe bet that his fellow "Only Ones" broke down the door if his house, searched it, destroyed as much as of his belongings as possible, took his dog to the pound and killed his fish.
Isn't that the way it's done if a potential suicidal "victim" has access to guns?

Does it sound like animal lover thinks "only ones" should get a free pass because they have stressful jobs?

with all the other problems police officers have, I never understood why they let a little poontang end their lives. A co-worker ate his gun back in the 80's because his wife left. Granted, she was a hottie, but there is plenty of stuff out there for a true vagitarian to graze on.
