An Open Debate

Should People Be Allowed to Carry Guns Openly? [More]
I'm gonna have to jump on some of my friends here--I didn't even know about this US News and World Report "Debate Club" or their participation in it--otherwise I'd have been calling attention to it.

What this really reveals is open and closed minds.  Note the naysayers like the no-joshin' Josh twins--they don't want to allow concealed carry, either.  Gee, and their opinions mean so much to me.

It looks like you can vote up the opinions you like and vote down the ones you don't.  The results as of this writing sure look like a grassroots vs. AstroTurf indicator to me...

Let us offer a parallel example:

Should People Be Allowed to Express Their Opinions Openly?

Some would argue that openly expressing your opinion causes distress to the many that would disagree with your opinion. Therefore, it is reasonable for the state to enact legislation prohibiting open expression of your opinion without your first obtaining a license to openly express your opinion (of course with submission of a passport photo, fingerprints and an exorbitant fee designed to suppress requests for licenses) and then registration (of course with another fee) of your opinion.

1st Amendment rights infringement you say?
Then why do you feel that 2nd Amendment rights infringement is tolerable?
Don't bother answering. I really am not interested in reading your negative response. It distresses me.

Why not a "license" to go to church or belong to a religion? I mean... just think of all the crimes committed in the name of religion over the centuries. Those are mighty dangerous folks!

One commenter got it right... some things are simply not up for vote... or a debate either.
