We're the Only Ones Floored Enough

A 25-year-old Japanese tourist — sleeping on a Brooklyn pal’s couch — was wounded early today when a cop on a drug raid accidentally fired his gun through the floor above her...Authorities said the 36-year-old cop whose gun discharged had never fired his weapon before. [More]
Never?

And I think I missed his name...?

But, David, he's a highly trained law enforcement professional.

I mean, Josh Horowitz tells me so, must be true.

So highly trained that the NYPD is swapping out handguns to new onws that have FOURTEEN pound trigger pulls.

Sounds to me like they're trying to reduce accidental discharges. Wouldn't better training be more effective than something that takes four fingers to fire?

Think I see your problem, Vern. "Never fired" his gun? Gee, I'd a thunk that there was some sort of gun handling and training to go along with the badge. Perhaps due the financial downturn, the NYPD has eliminated that pesky training and qualifying.

Only Ones are better trained?? Better trained than whom? Many states that "permit" folks to carry concealed with a license require SOME training...
