When my wife first heard the story she said,"Is that the worst they could find about him? They had to go all the way back to HIGH SCHOOL?!"
What's the quote on the Dutchman's site? Something about being "despised by the despicable"?
Half a century ago I was playing with a black child while we both spent time in the hospital. He annoyed me by strafing my army guys with his model plane, and I lashed out with "You N*****!!!!"
I will never forget the look of pain and abject despair on his face, and it touched me deeply enough that I've never used the term again; I now understood the power of some words and actions to cause harm.
Long story short - I don't care what Mittens did 40 years ago High School. I care greatly about what, if anything, he learned from the experience, how it shaped his life, and if it made him even a marginally better person.
